Romans 10:9&10

“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

There is more to this than meets the eye. The power of the gospel is that it is true. Not much is important in this world today especially in our western culture unless it’s helpful. By that I mean we are not interested unless it helps us sleep better, feel better, work better, earn better, or just plain makes things better.

I am not against better! I just don’t think better is always the best. I don’t trust my inclination to what is best for me. I need truth. God is truth. I believe in Christ and His gospel because it is true.

I don’t even think I came to that conclusion on my own. I believe that the Holy Spirit of Christ enabled me to believe the Word of God. I believe Jesus was crucified, entombed, and raised on the third day after His crucifixion. I believe He is, right now, at the right hand of the Father interceding for me and that He will one day return and take me to live with Him forever.

Even if I don’t get any help… I believe. I have no choice. It is the truth. If you believe you will be saved. Go ahead confess. Believe. You will be saved. Jesus isn’t insurance to help you in time of need. Jesus is assurance that He will never leave you, never forsake. That’s the truth. Be saved!
